It was begun since 7 years and up to now, more than 12000
general members, Executive committee members, Cooperative
Manager and staff, Account Committee Members of 40 districts
have been benifited and 141 Local instructors have been
developed throughout the country. We have to further expand
the program for covering the 75 districts and activate to
the inactive districts by continuing the training and
education program and providing various support services and
promotional programs. Ministry of Agriculture & Cooperatives
provides program based grants to NCF/N for the Training &
Education Program every year.
NCF/N also lunches some need based partnership trainings
in the cost sharing basis to the individual cooperatives
every year.
In order to involve and empower women through cooperatives
for the gender balanced socio economic development, the
leadership development , Cooperative Management, Financial
Management Training, skill development and other gender
sensitization activities and so on is being carried out through
the program at national, regional and local levels. It also
conducts interaction program for women empowerment with the
participation of the representatives of cooperatives and its
stakeholders. It also organizes World Rural Women's Day on
15th October every year with a large gathering of rural
women.
Basically, MUKTA KAMAIYAS and landless people are the main
target people for the program. Now, MUKTA KAMAIYA families
have been organized in a agriculture group and they have
begun farming collectively in their 5 KATTHA land given by
GoN along with the mobilization the savings for the income
generation activities. Community Biogas installation,
commercial collective farming and other skill development
activities have to be provided to them. Some activities have
been carried out and we also need external support to scale
up the program and to provide integrated services i.e.
shelter, awareness, skill, income generation, land for
collective farming cooperatives) for the further enhancement
of their livelihood.
NCF/N has adopted the policy of promoting Alternative Energy
Technology (RETs) such as Biogas, Rural Solar Home System,
Improved Water mill, Improved Cooked Stove, Micro Hydro and
so on in order to promote the use of RETs to increase the
quality of life of rural people. To attain this objective,
after signing in MOU with them, NCF/N has been working with
the Alternative Energy Promotion Centre (AEPC) and Biogas
Sector Support Program (BSP) of Nepal, a focal point of the
government of Nepal for promoting renewable energy and Biogas
respectively specially focusing on the low penetrated
districts of Nepal.
In order to empower and enhance the capabilities of member
cooperatives, NCF/N has been conducting the Diploma in
cooperative Management & Development Training and External
Exposure Visits and study program in joint collaboration with
International Cooperative Alliance(ICA), National cooperative
Union of India (NCUI) and Indian Farmers Fertilizer
Cooperatives (IFFCO) since a couple of year.
Likewise, it has also started to organize the similar
program in Sri Lanka form the last year. With the growing
demand of Nepalese Cooperators for these study visit
programs, NCF/N has also planned to expand the similar
program in different countries like Thailand, Bangladesh and
China etc.
ICA-NCF Project is conducted on pilot basis to the wood
carvers & Carpet weavers working in Bhaktapur district under
the technical & financial support from the International
cooperative Alliance, Asia & the pacific (ICA-AP), New Delhi,
from 2005 to 2006. Now, there are two self help women groups,
mobilizing their savings within the members. The main
objective of the project was to unite the craft community on
the basis of cooperative with the technical, technological &
marketing intervention in order to generate their income
through building linkage in the national & international
level. An intrigrated project on socio economic enhancement
of marginalized craft community has been developed for second
phase. NCF/N is exploring the donor for funding to the
proposed second phase.
NCF/N has formulated the Cooperative Code of Conduct for
committee members, general members and employees of
cooperatives to maintain ethical and financial discipline of
their cooperatives. Each cooperative has responsibility to
follow the code of conduct into practice. In order to create
awareness for cooperatives code of conduct, NCF/N also
launches awareness program for cooperative in different
districts regularly.
Beside these, National Cooperative Development for
sustainable institutional development, Establishment of Agro
Marketing for quality production and marketing the products
internally and externally to realize the better price to the
farmers, Natural Disaster Fund and are other activities also
initiated by NCF/N. You are requested to kindly go through

Promotion of National Cooperative Bank, Operation of
Cooperatives Exhibition, Distribution of fertilizers, Supply
of construction Materials, Promotion of district Cooperative
Unions through logistic support, Development of Data Bank,
Supervision & Monitoring activities are some of the major
programs of NCF/N being implemented from the last couple of
years.
NCF/N has initiated some programs – i) Women Empowerment
Program, ii) Remote Area Development Program, iii) The
landless labourer's upliftment Program, iv) Renewable Energy
promotion Program v) Foreign Employment Promotion program.
The programs have emphased how to mobilize the micro
credit on the productive and income generating activities
alongwith the other empowerment programs focusing on the
women, Schedule cast, Indigenous people and remote area in
order to improve the living standard & mitigate the poverty
of the deprived people through cooperatives in the community
level.
Exhibition of Cooperatives products, Distribution of
fertilizers to the farmers, Supply of construction Materials,
Operation of Health Club, Research on Cooperative consumer
store, Promotion of district Cooperative Unions, External
Exposure Visits, Development of Data Bank, Supervision &
Monitoring activities, Money Transfer& Insurance promotion
are some of the Major programs of NCF/N to be implemented in
the current fiscal year 2006/07.
