Jakhar Inaugurated the 86th International Cooperative
Day in Kathmandu
Director, International Cooperative Alliance (ICA) and IFFCO
Chairman Mr. Surindra Kumar Jakhar inaugurated the 86th
International Cooperative Day, 14th UN International
Day of Cooperatives and
15th National Cooperative Federation Day celebration
program on the 1st Saturday of July in a special
ceremony organized by NCF/N at Kathmandu, Nepal. The
International Cooperative Day used to be observed every year on
the 1st Saturday of July every year through out the world with
the call of United Nation and International Cooperative
Alliance. NCF/N observed International Cooperative Day this year
also with the international theme – "Confronting Climate Change
through Cooperative enterprise" as it was recommended by UN &
ICA to observe the Day with the theme.
Addressing
in the program, Mr. Jakhar emphasized on the need of
contribution of each cooperators for protecting the environment
of universe for the beautiful future. He had distributed the
excellent cooperative business Awards and excellent Cooperative
Awards – 2008 to the 8 cooperatives of different disciplines
which were announced in the 51th National Cooperative Day last
month after it was recommended by the national prize committee
to NCF. NCF Chairman and ICA AP Standing Committee member Mr.
Deepak Prakash Banskota, congratulating to all prize winner
cooperatives, expressed his vote of thanks to all dignitaries
attended in the special ceremony. Mr. Noriaki Niwa, Chairperson,
JICA Nepal Office, NCF/N advisors, Member of
Board of Directors, Government representatives, representative
from the central federations, National Cooperative Bank,
district cooperative Unions, primary cooperatives were also
present on the occasion.
At
the ceremony Mr. Jakhar, ICA Director and IFFCO Chairman were
felicitated by NCF/N on behalf of Nepalese Cooperative movement
for his significant contribution in strengthening the Indian
Cooperative movement. Dr. G.N. Saxena, Director, IFFCO, was also
appreciated as guest of honour for his invaluable cooperation in
providing training and exchange visit to Nepalese cooperators.

Training Program concluded at Pokhara, Nepal

Director and IFFCO Chairman Mr. Surindra Kumar Jakhar also
inaugurated the IFFCO – NCF training program on the Role of
Manager for Effective Cooperative Management organized jointly
by the National Cooperative Federation of Nepal and Indian
Farmers' Fertilizer Cooperatives
(IFFCO),
New Delhi, in Pokhara, Nepal on July 6, 2008. Speaking as Chief
Guest, in the opening session of the training, Mr. Jakhar
emphasized on the need of strong management in the Cooperatives.
He believed that the training would be helpful for enhancing the
capacity of managerial level cooperators.
Speaking from the chair, NCF/N chairman & ICA –AP Standing
committee Member Mr. Deepak Prakash Banskota informed that the
training program was organized both ICA member organizations
collaborately with the spirit of mutual cooperation as there was
high demand of such high level training. Expressing his
gratitude over the attendance of all guest and participants in
the program, Mr. Banskota urged to all participants to take
maximum advantage out of the training.
The
chief guest, international resource person, other guest and
participants were welcomed by Mr. Dilli Ram Tiwari, Member of
Board of Director, NCF/N. Dr. G.N. Saxena, Director, (CD) IFFCO,
Senior General Manager, (HRD) IFFCO Shree D. Bhattacharya, NCF/N
General Manager Mr. Ram Bhajan Shah and other distinguished
guest were also present in the occasion.
Basically, the various aspects of sound cooperative management
were discussed theoretically and
practically by the expert/resource persons Dr. Saxena, and shree
Bhattacharya through out the training period. 6 senior level
manager from different unit of IFFCO, India and 22 executive
level officials including 4 female from the central, districts
federations and other cooperative organizations from Nepal were
participated in the 4 days training program including field
visit.
In
the concluding ceremony, the certificates of participation were
distributed by the Chief resource person for the training shree
D. Bhattacharya. After distributing the certificates, shree
Bhattacharya appealed to the participants to translate the
knowledge and skill received throughout the training for the
sound and effective management of their cooperatives in order to
provide the competitive products and services to the members in
the context of liberalized market economy.
Speaking from the chair in the concluding ceremony Mr. Dilli Ram
Tiwari, Member of Board of Directors of NCF/N informed about the
external training policy of NCF/N for the support of
cooperatives for their effective operation.
Mr.
Babul Khanal, Manager, Project & Development Department of NCF/N
expressed his sincere gratitude to all distinguished guest,
resource person, national & international participants and other
cooperative organizations for their encouragement, untried
effort, active involvement and invaluable cooperation for the
successful completion of the program.
Mr.
Hiramani Bhandari, Chairman of District Cooperative Union, Kaski,
Mr. Dhurba Raj Neupane, Principal, Division & Cooperative
Training Centre, Kaski, Mr. Bhim Gurung, Chairman, District
Savings and Credit Cooperative Union, Kaski were also present in
the closing session.
In
a farewell ceremony organized by NCF/N in its office at
Kathmandu, Shree D. Bhattacharya were felicitated by Mr.
Banskota on behalf of the NCF/N and Nepalese cooperative
movement for his invaluable contribution to Nepalese cooperators
for increasing their knowledge through training and exchange
visit program in India.
In
the farewell session, Mr. Bijaya Raj Ghimire,
Member of Board of
Director, NCF/N shortly briefed about the NCF/N activities and
the status of Nepalese Cooperative Movement to the Indian
Delegates. NCF/N Vice Chairman Mr. Om Prakash Sharma, Member of
Board of Director of NCF/N Mr Rishi Raj Acharya, Mr Krishna
Prasad Neupane, Mr. Ram Charan Tharu, Mr.Bhoj Bahadur Bam,
Account Convener, Mr K. B. Upreti, General Manager Mr. Ram
Bhajan Shah, other Managers and NCF staff were also attended in
the ceremony and heartily welcomed to the international guests.
On this occasion, NCF/N Chairman Mr. Banskota, provided the
token of love to the resource person and IFFCO participants for
the program.
